About The Position

NSBC is seeking a Level II Automation Engineer to provide 24/7 on-call support for Level 2 computer network systems within a steel mill environment. This role is responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and upgrading mission-critical production software. The engineer will develop event-driven tracking services, optimize mill performance, and implement/maintain software interface tools, databases, and supervisory control systems. The position involves designing and developing real-time analytics and reporting platforms, modernizing legacy HMI clients, integrating with hardware, and enabling real-time data updates. The role also includes applying concepts in web application development, server-side enterprise web application programming, and complex, n-tier systems. Responsibilities extend to collecting and analyzing production data, designing and implementing automation solutions using Object-Oriented Programming and various languages, troubleshooting software issues, and implementing solutions for performance and scalability. The engineer will also manage CI/CD pipelines, maintain observability platforms, manage mill systems, and administer production maintenance software, infrastructure, and network hardware, including Oracle and SQL Server databases. Maintenance and upgrades of servers supporting Level II systems in the Beam Mill and Casters are also key aspects of this role.
