Level 1 Early Childhood Educator Hourly - FSCD Summer Term Position

About The Position

This position plays a vital role in supporting the growth and development of children aged 0-12 through the delivery of high-quality, National YMCA Child Care and Provincial curriculum programming. This role will also provide dedicated one-to-one support to a child receiving FSCD funding, including assisting with daily routines, implementing individualized support strategies, and promoting inclusion and participation within the program environment. This is a term position with an end date of August 31, 2026.

Requirements

  • Level 1 Child Care Certification (or in progress).
  • Standard First Aid & CPR – C.
  • Able to obtain a Police Information Check with Vulnerable sector check.
  • Experience with a tablet and Microsoft Office - Word.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting children with developmental disabilities is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Implements YMCA approved curriculum designed to promote the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of each child, fostering a safe, inclusive, and stimulating environment.
  • Facilitating engaging activities that encourage creativity, exploration, and positive social interactions.
  • Observing and documenting children’s development and behavior to support individualized learning.
  • Maintains a safe and supportive environment by following YMCA policies/procedures and Provincial Licensing and Health regulations.
  • Communicates on a daily basis with parents to build relationships and provide child development updates.
  • Completes required administrative tasks.
  • Supports, assists and mentors new Educators.
  • May be required to assist with personal care needs, including hygiene, toileting, diapering, feeding, and administering medication, in alignment with organizational policies and legislative requirements.
  • May be required to lift, carry, and physically support children with mobility needs while following established safety and supervision procedures.
