Requirements

  • Must have strong telephone, written, electronic, and digital communications skills, with the ability to effectively assist members through multiple delivery channels including phone, email, chat, and text messaging.
  • Strong sales and service background, focus and capability are required.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in lending at a financial institution.
  • Experience should include Loan Processor, Loan Officer and/or New Accounts Representative functions.
  • Must have an understanding of consumer loan analysis, underwriting, loan processing, and lending decision-making practices.
  • Broad knowledge of financial products and services.
  • Highly organized and able to manage a high volume of work while maintaining accuracy and service standards.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and cross-servicing skills are required.
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills
  • Must demonstrate flexibility and willingness to take advantage of internal and external training resources available.
  • Proficient use of personal computers and Windows-based applications.

Nice To Haves

  • Some college background desirable (emphasis in business courses preferable).

Responsibilities

  • Possesses thorough knowledge of Credit Union loan policies, regulations, credit granting criteria, documentation required for each loan type, DMV requirements, and ancillary products
  • Receives member loan requests through all delivery channels including telephone, internet, online chat, text messaging, digital applications and mail in a contact center environment.
  • Reviews, processes, evaluates and makes recommendations on consumer loan requests using sound judgment and routes loans for decision to a Centralized Underwriter with recommendation for approval or denial.
  • Facilitates clear and timely communication of loan decisions and funding requirements to applicants, including explaining adverse action decisions, recommending appropriate loan alternatives and product options, and conducting rate and payment calculations.
  • Responsible for follow up communication with applicants, members, branch associates, dealers pending applications, and loan pipeline management for direct and indirect loans through approved communication channels.
  • Cross-services members on Credit Union products and services including ancillary products, consumer loans, real estate loans, share accounts, certificates, investment services, online banking services, and other Credit Union offerings.
  • Provides assistance to new and existing members regarding all Credit Union products, services, membership requirements, and lending solutions
  • Utilizes ticketing, workflow management, and case management systems to create, monitor, update, assign, and resolve member service requests and loan-related cases.
  • May include reviewing and processing of new membership applications, verify eligibility requirements, and ensure all required documentation and records are properly maintained.
  • Recommends alterations or revisions to department policies, procedures, workflows, and service practices as needed
  • Performs other related duties and special projects, as assigned.
  • Must comply with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and laws enforced by the Office of Foreign Assets Control.
