About The Position

The YMCA of Greater Richmond is seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Lego Robotics Instructor for a K-5 Lego Program at the Northside Family YMCA. Program participants will engage in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, The Arts, and Mathematics) learning through Lego builds, coding, and collaboration. This part-time position pays $20/hr.

Requirements

  • At least one year of related experience.
  • At least six months experience working with youth.
  • Excellent verbal, written, organizational, and technological skills.
  • Strong relationship building, mentoring, communication and leadership skills.
  • Commitment to teamwork, collaboration, and service to diverse populations.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Regional Director of Community Outreach to implement a Lego Robotics program for elementary school students.
  • Facilitate Lego curriculum and make real-world connections.
  • Monitor participant progress and make adjustments.
  • Work to create a safe and productive learning environment.
  • Provide mentorship to volunteers.
  • Supervise scholars in in-person day to day activities as well as special functions, such as field trips.
