Representative Andrea Valderrama is recruiting for a full-time Legislative & Community Affairs Director to serve the people of House District 47. The Oregon Legislature is a fast-paced work environment that requires an experienced Legislative & Community Affairs Director, well-versed in managing competing deadlines and priorities with a high level of detail and a commitment to diversity, racial equity, and inclusion. If you enjoy public policy creation and are experienced with the legislative process, including development of policy campaigns and strategies, coalition and workgroup engagement, and relationship building, and are well-versed in strategic communications, this position might just be for you! You would take on a wide range of responsibilities, including messaging, bill analysis, legislative research, policy analysis, and constituent services while assisting with the day-to-day activities of Representative Valderrama’s office. Representing House District 47 requires thorough knowledge of the district's conditions, issues, community groups, and key influencers. You will strategically build and strengthen coalitions and community relations and collaborate with directly impacted communities to draft key messaging, communications, and correspondence. This is a full-time, limited-duration position beginning in November 2026 and ending in July 2026. During Oregon legislative sessions, staff work in the Oregon State Capitol in Salem, Oregon. Flexibility to work non-traditional office hours, including nights and weekends, and willingness to travel within Oregon will be required.
