About The Position

As a Legislative Aide within the Government Relations Office, you will help guide the flow of information that supports major policy decisions. This role allows you to work closely with experts who evaluate laws that affect statewide services. You will gain valuable experience in research, legislative review, and communication. This is an excellent opportunity to take part in meaningful work that influences essential public programs. This position supports the review and communication of legislative information that affects Department programs. Work involves research, evaluation, and coordination with staff and legislative partners.

Requirements

  • One year of governmental experience, including one year of work directly related to legislative analysis
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions

Responsibilities

  • Draft responses and research inquiries from legislative offices
  • Review proposed and current legislation to determine fiscal, program, or legal impact
  • Assist in drafting bills and relay information to the Governor's Legislative Office
  • Track bills related to Department programs and education
  • Compile legislative comments from program offices and prepare summaries
  • Help maintain contact with House and Senate offices and assist with testimony preparation
