About The Position

The role of the Legal Underwriting Specialist is to underwrite new RTS Financial prospects and complete risk analysis and due diligence on existing customers. This role involves performing legal research on UCC filings, judgments, liens, and tax obligations, as well as filing UCC-1 Financing Statements and amendments. The specialist will maintain quality standards and confidentiality, analyze corporate documents, and complete risk analysis and due diligence reviews. Additionally, the role includes developing and implementing processes for document controls, gaining knowledge of various businesses, resolving account irregularities, and contributing to company growth strategies. Communication with leadership, sales, and operations regarding progress and issues is essential. With training, the specialist will also review and revise agreements as needed and work collaboratively within a team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 1+ years of experience or 5+ years of equivalent experience
  • Ability to remain ethical and objective while exercising independent judgment
  • Ability to work and learn independently and meet deadlines
  • Detail-oriented and capable of effectively prioritizing multiple tasks
  • Must be flexible and able to adapt to constantly changing priorities

Nice To Haves

  • Background in underwriting and/or analysis preferred
  • Experience with corporate filings and UCC financing statements
  • Paralegal certification is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Underwrite new RTS Financial prospects
  • Complete risk analysis and due diligence on existing customers
  • Perform legal research on UCC filings, judgments, liens, and tax obligations
  • File UCC-1 Financing Statements and amendments
  • Maintain quality standards and confidentiality on all projects and client and company matters
  • Analyze corporate documents such as bylaws, articles, and operating agreements
  • Complete risk analysis and full due diligence review on new prospects or current clients
  • Develop and implement processes to support document controls and safeguards
  • Develop working knowledge of various businesses operating in other countries, if applicable
  • Detect and resolve any issues involving account irregularities for current clients
  • Become a partner in developing strategies to achieve company growth
  • Work to keep all parties (leadership/sales/operations) apprised of progress and/or issues
  • Review agreements and revise as needed (with training)
  • Work well within a team atmosphere
