The Training Department of the Committee for Public Counsel Services (CPCS), the public defender agency for Massachusetts, is seeking an attorney with experience in family regulation law to be a Legal Training Attorney in the Children and Family Law (CAFL) Practice Area. This position may be seated in any available CPCS office. CPCS fights for equal justice and human dignity by supporting clients in achieving their legal and life goals, zealously advocating for the rights of individuals and promoting just public policy. CPCS is the state agency in Massachusetts responsible for providing attorneys to those who cannot afford one in various legal matters including criminal, delinquency, family regulation, guardianship, mental health, and sexually dangerous person cases. The agency emphasizes cultural competence and the ability to work with diverse populations. The CPCS Training Department develops and delivers comprehensive, practice-driven education for staff and private assigned counsel across all areas of public defense, aiming for the highest standards of excellence. The Children and Family Law Legal Training Attorneys work collaboratively to educate, train, empower, and support children and family law attorneys to provide excellent representation and client-centered advocacy. Travel throughout the state for training is required, with a remote work schedule available when not conflicting with training. The office location for this position is negotiable.
