The Legal Support Assistant provides administrative support to assigned attorneys, paralegals, and secretaries within the Litigation Practice Group. This position acts as a liaison between attorneys and clients to provide cost-saving services. The role operates under direct supervision, following instructions and pre-existing guidelines. It is ideal for individuals interested in gaining hands-on experience in the legal field before pursuing law school.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and judgment skills
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and prioritize responsibilities
  • Ability to handle and maintain confidential information
  • Ability to learn new concepts and skills quickly

Nice To Haves

  • A recent bachelor’s degree in a field such as political science and/or a future interest in law school is ideal

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate meeting logistics including scheduling attendees, videoconferences, and conference rooms requesting equipment, preparing presentation materials, arranging refreshments, and welcoming visitors
  • Coordinate travel arrangements including hotel, flight, and transportation services
  • Create Excel spreadsheets and PowerPoint presentations including graphics and transitions
  • Create and maintain custodial tracker, keeping custodial documents organized and tracking progress on document collection
  • Create templates for custodial interviews and subpoena responses to the government
  • Research False Claims Act cases, judicial opinions, and judge courtroom rules
  • Work with associates to file pro hac vice forms
  • Format and update chronologies for internal investigations, reviewing hundreds of documents and creating and/or editing tables that summarize our discoveries
  • Input, review, edit, and update attorney time entries in Intapp
  • Edit, proofread, and redline documents and correspondence for accuracy, grammar, and formatting
  • Prepare documents and emails for attorney review, including letters, forms, charts, spreadsheets, and presentations
  • Proofread documents and emails for accuracy
  • Create, organize, and maintain electronic files via the Firm’s cloud systems and in accordance with Firm records retention policies
