Jericho Road Community Health Center is actively seeking a Legal Services Specialist. This position is full-time, within the VIVE Department, working at our VIVE location. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Previous experience with phone and other customer service-based work.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to function independently and know when to seek direction from Supervisor.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s in relevant field of study preferred.
  • Additional languages, such as Spanish or French, is a strong asset.

Responsibilities

  • Screen legal focused phone inquiries and direct messages appropriately
  • Screen email and phone inquiries and route resident referrals
  • Create profiles and enter documentation for enrolled clients in Electronic Medical Record MEDENT
  • Coordinate remote service inquiries for general information via phone/mail/email
  • Coordinate client files and schedule making in Electronic Medical Record (MEDENT)
  • Coordinate legal service schedule for client appointments, legal service staff, and outside organizational supports
  • Participate in legal clinics as per presenting need
  • Coordinate with the legal service staff for border and immigration-related services according to client needs
  • Ensure all actions, person conduct, and communications represent the organization in a highly professional manner at all times.
  • Receive and route messages or documents, to appropriate staff or clients
  • Track client statistics and coordinate with the Program Data Analyst
  • Collect service-related fees as appropriate
  • Manage legal department petty cash and discretionary purchasing
  • Assist Legal Services Manager and Legal Services Specialist with daily tasks or special projects
  • Have a working knowledge of how to operate office equipment, such as voice mail messaging systems, and use word processing, spreadsheet, or other software applications to prepare reports, invoices, financial statements, letters, case histories, or medical records.
  • Ability to function autonomously and discern when to seek direction, and when to make decisions.
  • Tracking reports and statistics for grants and board reports
