About The Position

This is a senior individual-contributor position on Nu’s Global Strategic Contracts & Growth team, supporting strategic projects for the company’s global growth. The role reports to the Legal Director who leads the team. Nu’s Legal Team serves as a strategic partner across the business, supporting product and service launches and sustainable growth while protecting the company’s interests and reputation and managing legal risk.

The role leads legal workstreams for M&A projects, including due diligence, transaction-document negotiation, coordination with internal teams and external counsel, and support for strategic discussions and post-signing and post-closing measures. It also reviews, drafts, and negotiates complex agreements with global suppliers and strategic partners, particularly in technology and fintech, and advises on tech and fintech products. The role uses and promotes AI tools in legal work and helps the team adopt more efficient ways of working.

The position is intended for a Nu office, preferably São Paulo, Palo Alto, or Miami. The opportunity is listed in Miami, United States, and follows a hybrid model requiring office attendance at least twice a week, on strategic days. The team emphasizes knowledge sharing, skills development, and ongoing feedback. Recruitment may use AI-enabled tools to support evaluation, but final hiring decisions are made by human reviewers.

Requirements

• Law degree and active admission to the New York Bar in good standing.
• M&A experience, particularly in the financial and technology sectors, in a law firm or in-house.
• Experience with fintech products and negotiating technology and fintech agreements.
• Hands-on use of AI tools in legal work and an AI-forward, innovative mindset.

Responsibilities

• Lead Legal’s work on M&A, coordinating with internal teams and outside counsel.
• Coordinate legal due diligence and negotiate transaction agreements.
• Support strategic discussions and measures to be implemented after signing and closing.
• Review, negotiate, and draft contracts with global suppliers and strategic partners, particularly technology and fintech agreements.
• Negotiate directly with counterparties and contribute to strategy and business vision.
• Advise on technology and fintech products.
• Use and promote AI tools for legal research, drafting, and review, and help improve team efficiency.
