The Legal Secretary will serve as a liaison for the department, greeting clients, screening and routing visitors and incoming calls, and answering routine inquiries. This role provides routine secretarial support to the staff of the Legal Department in an efficient and conscientious manner. The Legal Secretary will work with clients represented by the Legal Department and clients referred to the Pro Se Clinic, offering direct support by assisting in assessing necessary documents, answering questions, and helping with form completion. Responsibilities include general secretarial duties such as answering phones, translating documents, filing documents via e-file, and managing mail. The role involves greeting clients, routing visitors, assisting attorneys with tasks like copying, typing correspondence, filing paperwork, and maintaining office supplies. Client communication and retrieval of documentation, records, and evidence are key. The Legal Secretary will act as an interpreter, maintain client files (both paper and digital), and manage electronic records with notes, correspondence, scanning, filing, and calendaring. Confidentiality and professionalism are paramount. Additional duties include assisting clients with pro se services via a legal text line, creating and updating forms for the Pro Se Clinic, and maintaining the professional appearance of the Legal Suite.
