About The Position

Current law school student to intern with SHF’s legal department during the school semester or over the summer. Report to the General Counsel with ongoing interaction with the rest of the legal team. Receive hourly wage or academic credit with stipend subject to law school’s guidelines. 21-35 hours a week, with hybrid schedule.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in law school
• Highly proficient in written and oral communication
• Current “B” grade average or higher
• Interest in affordable housing law and policy in NYC
• Self-starter and willing to take initiative
• Comfortable working in a team setting
• Respectful and inclusive
• Appreciation for the SHF core mission and values

Responsibilities

• Assist with drafting and reviewing legal documents, including service agreements and finance and regulatory documents
• Assist with preparing government disclosure packages
• Assist with legal research needs related to affordable housing in NYC
• Attend meetings as needed
• Assist with internal SHF legal record-keeping
