About The Position

This internship is designed for law students and recent law school graduates interested in fact-gathering, legal research, and analysis of issues encountered by a medical device company. Ideal candidates are passionate about supporting businesses that develop life-saving medical devices and services for at-risk patients. The Legal Intern will be assigned to a Team Manager and a mentor but may collaborate directly with other members of the Legal Department as well as cross-functional partners. Work will be hands-on and may contribute meaningfully to active projects. By the end of the internship, the Legal Intern will gain a clear understanding of how the intern’s studies translate into practical, real-world work within a corporate legal department in the medical device industry. This is a part-time summer internship supporting the Legal Department at Kestra.

Requirements

  • Current enrollment in or recent graduation from an accredited Law School
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office programs
  • Must be enrolled in an accredited Law School taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR must have graduated from an accredited Law School within the past 3 months
  • Must not have completed one year of continual employment with Kestra Medical Technologies
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must possess unrestricted work authorization
  • Must complete a criminal and employment background screening that meets the allowable FDA requirements and is in accordance with EEOC rules and regulations
  • Must complete a pre-internship drug screen

Responsibilities

  • Conduct fact gathering, legal research, and analysis on matters involving ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance), regulatory, privacy, and corporate compliance, licensure related to governmental medical benefit programs (payors), and intellectual property.
  • Work closely with Legal Department team members to understand project goals, scope, and expected deliverables.
  • Assist team members with tasks that support ongoing legal and business initiatives.
  • Approach assignments with creativity, initiative, and strong analytical skills.
  • Provide periodic progress updates and maintain proper citation of all information sources.
  • Prepare and present key findings, learnings, and recommendations to the Legal Team and Kestra Executive Leadership.
