Tokyo Electron Limited (TEL), a prominent Japanese semiconductor company and one of Japan's top ten largest corporations, is seeking a part-time Legal Intern for its legal department at its U.S. headquarters in Austin, TX. This paid position is for the Summer of 2027, running from Monday, May 17th to August 20th, 2027. The internship offers meaningful, hands-on experience, focusing on commercial and corporate law. Interns will be assigned projects that deliver business value, applying Lean principles and continuous improvement thinking, with provided training and resources. The U.S. legal team, consisting of experienced attorneys, paralegals, and administrative staff, collaborates with international legal colleagues. Previous interns have had excellent experiences, with one former intern now employed full-time as an attorney. This role provides the opportunity to engage in substantive legal work from the outset, including drafting, revising, and analyzing commercial agreements, working on non-disclosure agreements, and assisting with dispute handling. Interns will also gain insight into corporate compliance programs and the operations of a legal department within a multinational corporation in a cutting-edge industry. This role does not focus on hard Intellectual Property (IP) such as patent drafting or prosecution, but will involve 'soft IP' issues like trade secrets and licensing.
