About The Position

NYLAG is a leading civil legal services organization founded in 1990, dedicated to combating economic, racial, and social injustice. We advocate for individuals and families experiencing poverty or crisis by providing free civil legal services, financial empowerment, impact litigation, policy advocacy, and community partnerships. Our mission is to ensure that wealth does not determine access to justice and to disrupt systemic racism by addressing the root causes of legal and financial crises. NYLAG operates through over 150 community sites, including courts, hospitals, and libraries, and utilizes a Mobile Legal Help Center. During the COVID-19 pandemic, services transitioned to virtual platforms. Last year, NYLAG's staff of 380 assisted nearly 129,000 people.
