About The Position

Duetti is seeking a motivated legal extern to join its Legal Department for an educational externship coordinated through an accredited J.D. program. The role provides firsthand experience at the intersection of law, music, and technology in a fast-paced startup environment. The extern will assist with drafting purchase agreements for music assets, conduct legal research and due diligence relating to distribution, licensing, and financing agreements, and may interface with industry stakeholders and opposing counsel. This is an unpaid educational externship; no wages or employment benefits are provided. No employment relationship exists, and no job offer is guaranteed. Written acknowledgment is required before the start date under New York State Department of Labor guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Aid and support the Legal Department with day-to-day legal tasks.
• Review agreements related to distribution, licensing, publishing, and related matters, and prepare memos on them.
• Support legal research on music rights, international copyright and music rights, compliance, and similar topics.
• Help prepare and maintain documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
• Collaborate with the legal and business development teams on cross-functional projects.
• Participate in weekly team meetings and contribute to project coordination.
• Engage in drafting purchase agreements for music assets and legal research and due diligence related to distribution, licensing, and financing agreements.
• Interface with industry stakeholders and opposing counsel.
