About The Position

At Home’s Legal Department is looking for a motivated, practical, and solution-oriented Attorney (Legal Counsel) to support At Home’s growth and business operations. The structure of the legal team will provide the opportunity for you to work collaboratively with stakeholders across the organization and all functional areas and to make fundamental contributions with visible results. As Legal Counsel, you will support a broad range of enterprise-wide work including labor and employment law, litigation and claims, commercial contracts, as well as corporate ethics and regulatory compliance, privacy and data security, and other areas. You will analyze complex legal issues as assigned by members of the legal team and provide practical, accurate, and timely guidance and solutions for emerging business challenges.

Requirements

  • JD (Juris Doctor or Doctor of Jurisprudence) from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Licensed and in good standing to practice law in any U.S. jurisdiction (Texas preferred).
  • One to five years of legal experience, including experience with employment law, litigation, and/or with drafting and negotiating complex commercial contracts.

Responsibilities

  • Advise senior and executive leaders on labor and employment issues.
  • Manage commercial and employment litigation and provide oversight to claims and charges, including EEOC claims.
  • Manage the enterprise-wide commercial contracting process including negotiating, drafting, reviewing, interpreting, and otherwise supporting direct and indirect procurement contracts for all functional areas across the company; advise and make recommendations to senior leaders with regard to compliance, risk, and potential liabilities.
  • Act as a legal advisor to internal clients across finance, HR, merchandising, marketing, ecommerce, real estate, safety and risk, and IT functions to provide practical, actionable advice.
  • Take ownership of discrete legal initiatives as they arise based on changing business priorities.
  • Develop and maintain internal guidelines, toolkits, policies, template forms, and training materials for various legal and business issues across the organization.
  • Engage and manage outside counsel and other third parties as needed.
