About The Position

Mack Trucks and Volvo Trucks North America seek an experienced attorney to join a team responsible for litigation and claims arising primarily from company operations and products. Based in Greensboro, North Carolina, the office-based role provides strategic legal counsel to drive risk mitigation, direct dispute resolution, manage outside counsel, and defend and advance company legal interests while supporting business objectives. Occasional domestic and international travel is required. The position reports to the Vice President of Legal, Litigation for Mack Trucks/Volvo Group North America. The attorney will advise on product liability and warranty litigation and provide cross-functional legal support to business divisions including product safety and certification, engineering, service, product planning, sales, marketing, and communications. The role also covers claims prevention and compliance, review of advertising and marketing materials, internal training, risk reporting, cost and results management, and participation in industry and commercial legal organizations. The position supports collaboration and development within the Mack/VTNA Legal function. Requirements

Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
Active license to practice law in at least one state.
At least 5 years of litigation practice experience through in-house counsel and/or private practice roles.
Knowledge of product liability and warranty law.

Responsibilities

Identify and mitigate legal risk related to products designed and assembled by Mack and VTNA, including defending product liability and warranty litigation and retaining and managing outside counsel.
Provide cross-functional legal support to business divisions, including product safety and certification, engineering, service, product planning, sales, marketing, and communications.
Minimize legal claims through compliance, timely statutory reporting, and complete and accurate record keeping.
Review advertising and marketing materials and advise on claim substantiation, disclosures, disclaimers, and related matters.
Conduct training sessions for business groups on potential legal exposure and best practices.
Help ensure the North American Legal function balances cost, results, and precedent effectively.
Identify, quantify, and communicate significant North American legal risks to the Mack/Volvo Trucks General Counsel, business partners, and insurers, exercising judgment about when and how to communicate them.
Participate in industry and commercial legal organizations on behalf of Mack/VTNA.
Foster responsibility for business and strategic goals across the Mack/VTNA Legal function.
Promote the development and participation of a committed department working together to achieve excellence.
