The Alberta Securities Commission (ASC) is seeking a Legal Counsel, Private Markets & Innovation to provide legal, policy, and regulatory support to the Private Markets & Innovation team. This role will support the ASC’s engagement with issuers, founders, entrepreneurs, investors, advisors, and other market participants involved in capital raising, with a particular focus on small and scaling businesses, emerging technologies, digital assets, tokenization, and innovation in capital markets. The ASC is the industry-funded regulator responsible for administering Alberta's securities laws, fostering a fair and efficient capital market, and protecting investors. As a member of the Canadian Securities Administrators (CSA), the ASC collaborates to improve, coordinate, and harmonize the regulation of Canada's capital markets. The Corporate Finance division, where this role resides, is the primary interface for issuers and their advisors, responsible for reviewing various filings, monitoring disclosure, assessing financing, and making recommendations on exemptive relief. This division is also involved in developing rules, policies, and legislative amendments for Alberta's and Canada's capital markets.
