About The Position

Omnea is seeking an exceptional mid-level attorney to join its Legal team and take ownership of commercial, corporate, and compliance work as the company scales in the US. Reporting to the Head of Legal in London, this role will be the first lawyer on the ground in the US and the primary legal partner to the US Go To Market team. The position involves acting as a trusted advisor across the business, leading commercial negotiations, advising on product and data privacy, supporting corporate transactions, and driving compliance and infosec initiatives. As the first US legal hire, the role offers broad responsibilities and the autonomy to shape how Legal supports Omnea's US growth during a period of rapid scaling. The company is looking for a candidate to help make Omnea a leading global tech business. The role is available in either the UK or the US, with one open headcount.

Requirements

  • Licensed attorney admitted to practice in any US state
  • Strong training from a top law firm or relevant in-house experience
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience as a practicing attorney (more experienced applicants welcome)
  • Seasoned commercial operator with proven expertise negotiating and closing complex, high-volume SaaS agreements with enterprise clients
  • Ability to own customer relationships and deal strategy independently
  • Comfortable managing negotiations without constant escalation
  • Demonstrable experience with international compliance frameworks (GDPR, SCCs, DPAs)
  • Ability to advise confidently on complex cross-border data transfer issues and navigate regulatory uncertainty across multiple jurisdictions
  • Thrive in fast-moving environments and can manage competing priorities at scale
  • Comfortable operating with incomplete information and making sound judgment calls under pressure, particularly when coordinating across time zones
  • Genuinely interested in how AI and legal tech can transform how legal works, contract automation, legal ops efficiency, document drafting tools and willing to experiment with and adopt new platforms to improve own productivity and output quality
  • Judgment relied upon not just on legal matters but on commercial strategy
  • Communicate complex issues clearly to leadership and customers without oversimplifying, and can adapt style to different audiences
  • Can manage large portfolios of concurrent negotiations, multiple stakeholders, and shifting priorities while maintaining excellence and attention to detail
  • Proactive about flagging issues early and coordinating with the London team where needed

Responsibilities

  • Review, draft, and negotiate commercial agreements with enterprise clients, including Master Service Agreements (MSAs), Service Level Agreements (SLAs), and Data Processing Agreements (DPAs)
  • Own US data privacy matters, including negotiating data processing terms and advising on applicable state and international privacy laws, and cross-border transfers
  • Manage high-volume enterprise contract workflows, providing triage to help sales teams prioritise negotiations and unblock deals
  • Develop and maintain playbooks and fallback positions for common enterprise negotiation scenarios, enabling faster deal cycles as the business scales
  • Partner with teams like product, engineering, and security to advise on legal and compliance implications of new features, particularly around data handling, AI capabilities, and user privacy
  • Conduct legal reviews on product releases to ensure alignment with evolving data privacy regulations and contractual commitments to customers
  • Support the product team in developing compliance documentation, feature specifications, and AI policies that can be confidently represented to enterprise prospects
  • Support on corporate and strategic projects, including fundraising and international expansion
