About The Position

Genetec is growing rapidly, and we are looking to hire another legal counsel to join our expanding Legal Department. As a member of the Legal Department, you will participate in a variety of innovative projects in a highly dynamic environment. This role will primarily focus on Canadian immigration law and global mobility, while also supporting employment-related legal matters. You will work closely with internal stakeholders and external counsel across multiple jurisdictions to support Genetec’s global workforce.

Requirements

  • Member in good standing with the Quebec Bar (or other bar associations if based in Montreal, QC)
  • Approximately 2–4 years of relevant experience in Canadian immigration law
  • Strong interpersonal and organisational skills
  • Ability to work efficiently and collaboratively in a team, often under strict deadlines, and handle multiple priorities
  • High proficiency in spoken and written English and in French

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in global mobility or multi-jurisdictional matters
  • Exposure to cross-border legal matters and immigration compliance
  • Exposure to employment law or HR-related legal issues
  • Mastery of another language
  • Experience developing or managing internal compliance tools, trackers, or knowledge bases
  • Experience delivering training or presentations to non-legal stakeholders
  • Knowledge and understanding of the software / cloud technology industry, including practices, legal frameworks, etc.
  • Strong business sense and judgment

Responsibilities

  • Provide legal advice and strategic guidance on Canadian immigration matters, including work permits, permanent residency, compliance obligations, and mobility strategies
  • Coordinate with external immigration counsel in multiple jurisdictions to support global mobility and ensure alignment with local legal requirements
  • Develop, update and maintain internal compliance tools and processes related to immigration and global mobility
  • Deliver training and guidance to HR, managers, and key stakeholders on Canadian immigration requirements and best practices
  • Support employment-related legal matters, including general HR advisory work and regulatory compliance
  • Collaborate with internal teams – including HR and Finance – to support employment and international mobility cases
