About The Position

Seqirus is seeking a Legal Counsel, APAC to join their Global Seqirus legal team. This role will report to the Seqirus Associate General Counsel, APAC and will be responsible for providing expert legal support to the region, partnering with internal stakeholders to achieve strategic business objectives. The position involves supporting standard form contracting for the APAC region, providing general legal advice to various departments including commercial, Medical Affairs, Regulatory, and Procurement, with a focus on manufacturing operations. Additionally, the role will advise on employment law matters, support subsidiary management activities, provide solutions on contract interpretation and compliance, assist with compliance initiatives, and advise on third-party disputes. Requirements

  • Bachelor of laws degree or J.D. or equivalent foreign degree.
  • Admission to legal practise in Australia (unrestricted practicing certificate).
  • 2-4 years’ experience in a similar legal role, law firm or in-house position.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment and ability to prioritise work.
  • Strong business acumen and judgement.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a broader team.
  • Ability to work in a cross functional, cross cultural and matrixed environment.

Responsibilities

  • Legal lead support for preparing, negotiating and finalising standard form contracting for the APAC region and forming part of the network of counsels supporting this activity globally for Seqirus.
  • Act as the primary regional interface between other counsels supporting standard form contracts, other regional lawyers, and business stakeholders, ensuring consistent, high-quality, efficient, and user-focused contracting support across the region and Seqirus business.
  • Support enterprise initiatives such as template generation and harmonisation, process optimisation and contracting innovation promoting good contracting practices.
  • Provide general legal advice and counsel to clients in the APAC region including commercial, Medical Affairs, Regulatory and Procurement with a particular focus on supporting the manufacturing operations of the Tullamarine manufacturing facility.
  • Provide legal advice on certain employment law matters and management of employment law matters (in association with the Associate General Counsel).
  • Work with the Company Secretary and Corporate Governance team and Associate General Counsel to support certain subsidiary management activities.
  • Provide solutions and pragmatic legal advice on a range of legal issues including contract interpretation, and compliance with laws and regulations, including those applicable to the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Provide support and work with the Seqirus Compliance Team to advance compliance related activities and initiatives in APAC.
  • Advise the business on challenges and disputes with third parties and provide advice on management of such issues and disputes.
