About The Position

As a Legal Assistant, you will be responsible for performing duties utilizing legal terminology, procedures, and documents. May also conduct research to support a legal proceeding. Requirements

  • 2 years of experience in a legal support capacity
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Proven ability to multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast-paced and changing environment.
  • Strong organization, including managing an attorney calendar
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

Nice To Haves

  • 3-5 years of experience with trust and estate planning
  • Associate in Paralegal Studies

Responsibilities

  • Draft and file legal documents such as trust wills or other related documents
  • Prepare probate forms
  • Assist with assessment of creditor claims and collection and liquidation of assets
  • Maintain attorney’s calendar; coordinate mediation schedules
  • Maintain databases of case materials and information
  • Assist with maintenance of files, including individual case correspondence
  • Act as point of contact when Attorney is unavailable; direct issues to Attorney
  • Prepare correspondence as needed
  • Open files and set up accordingly to ensure all appropriate documentation is included
  • Close out files when appropriate
  • Prepare bills and submit in a timely manner
  • Assist with all other administrative needs including copying, filing, taking dictation, etc.
