About The Position

At First Financial Bank, our Legal Department plays a critical role in supporting the Bank's operations, protecting its interests, and ensuring sound governance. As a Legal Assistant, you'll work closely with internal counsel from our Main Office in Terre Haute, Indiana, providing essential administrative and operational support that helps keep legal processes organized, accurate, and moving forward efficiently. This fully on-site role is ideal for someone who thrives in a professional environment, enjoys working with detailed documentation, and takes pride in maintaining confidentiality and accuracy. You'll gain exposure to a wide variety of legal, business, and corporate matters while supporting the efficient operation of the Bank's legal function.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion with sensitive information
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently
  • Professional demeanor and strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods while working at a computer
  • Ability to review and process detailed information requiring close visual attention and accuracy
  • Ability to operate a computer and other standard office equipment throughout the workday
  • Ability to communicate effectively with attorneys, associates, customers, vendors, and other stakeholders
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities while maintaining accuracy and professionalism

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree or coursework in business, legal studies, or a related field preferred
  • Three or more years of experience in a law firm, financial institution, or professional office environment preferred
  • Experience with electronic filing systems, legal document management, or public records searches preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative and operational support to the General Counsel and Legal Department.
  • Maintain legal files, records, correspondence, and documentation with accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Draft routine correspondence and assist with document preparation, editing, formatting, and proofreading.
  • Support legal document execution, filing, distribution, and retrieval activities.
  • Organize and maintain electronic and physical filing systems for legal documents and records.
  • Review and route internal legal work requests to appropriate parties.
  • Process invoices and maintain records related to outside counsel and legal service providers.
  • Obtain filings, court records, and other legal documents through public offices, courts, and electronic systems.
  • Review documents for completeness, accuracy, and proper formatting.
  • Maintain office supplies, support record retention practices, and assist with department projects as needed.
