We are seeking a skilled and proactive Legal Assistant to support our attorneys in the Brookfield office. DeWitt LLP is seeking a highly organized and proactive Legal Assistant to support attorneys in a dynamic, multifaceted practice. This role supports work across business law, real estate, and litigation, including intellectual property litigation, and requires adaptability, attention to detail, and strong client service skills. This is an excellent opportunity for a professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys handling a wide range of legal matters for businesses, financial institutions, and individuals.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of legal assistant experience, preferably in business law, real estate, and litigation
  • Strong knowledge of legal terminology, court procedures, and document preparation
  • Experience with e-filing systems and case management software
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • High level of professionalism and client service orientation

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting transactional work (business or real estate closings)
  • Familiarity with litigation processes, including trial preparation
  • Background working with financial institutions or business clients

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative and legal support across business, real estate, and litigation matters
  • Draft, revise, and format legal documents, including contracts, leases, pleadings, and correspondence
  • Manage complex calendars, deadlines, and court filings (state and federal)
  • Coordinate closings and transactional documentation for real estate and business matters
  • Maintain and organize case files, both electronic and physical
  • Communicate professionally with clients, courts, and opposing counsel
  • Assist with billing, time entry, and matter management
  • Support trial and appellate preparation, including compiling exhibits and filings
