About The Position

These positions are on-site. On any given day, you will use your excellent communication skills and problem-solving abilities as you assist with internal and external questions regarding cases in LINX, answer phone calls, and direct people to the appropriate services or departments. You will use empathy and compassion as you serve those navigating difficult and often stressful legal processes. This position will also strengthen your research skills and knowledge of research tools as you help our clients fulfill all of their general court records needs. The Clerk of the Superior Court's work is mostly administrative in nature, providing essential services for the community through maintaining the records of all cases filed in the Superior Court. We are an essential service helping people navigate through unfamiliar territory during challenging times with knowledge and empathy creating safe spaces for residents of the county. Bring your understanding of customer service and modern administrative practices along with a “can-do” approach, and you will thrive in this role. With your exceptional communication skills, you will be interacting in person and through a variety of electronic modes (phone, email, instant messaging, video conferencing) to assist customers and support your team. Multi-taskers, those with a high fluency in the Microsoft Office Suite of programs (Word, Excel, PPT, and Outlook), and quick learners will be successful in this environment. Someone with empathy and compassion with the ability to provide and connect services for individuals across all walks of life or different states of well-being. Independent judgment, effective decision making, and problem solving, along with exceptional communication, customer service, and attention to detail, will be successful in this role. Throughout the onboarding process, you will meet with the Supervisors, teams, and the admin team regularly to discuss expectations, set goals, identify priorities, and gain familiarity with current policies, procedures, and strategic measures. Requirements

  • A minimum of one year progressive, responsible experience as a legal assistant, legal secretary or related legal staff support function.
  • Must be able to utilize word processor or personal computer at an acceptable level of proficiency as required for positions requiring those skills.
  • As a condition of employment, the applicant will need to authorize and complete a background check.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Training by an accredited vocational school, college, or university in the field of legal support work or related area is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Schedules for trial and return dates; collects fees for court filings and issuance of processes (i.e., writs, garnishments, attachments, restitutions).
  • Transcribes court activity to case history documents.
  • Prepares court calendar; encodes or enters into database for court dates and attorney of record.
  • Attends court sessions, recording court and/or dispositions for subsequent transcription to the case history docket; handles papers between court and judge; swears in jurors; calls jurors.
  • Makes certified copies of legal documents; certifies that records are true and correct.
