The Legal Assistant II (LA2) team is crucial for organizing attorneys and paralegals, ensuring deadlines are met and clients feel supported. This role involves high-level administrative and legal support.

Requirements

  • 6 months to 1 year of experience working in at least one or more of the following areas: family law, estate planning, probate, or civil litigation.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Detail-focused self-starter with the ability to manage competing priorities and remain highly organized in a fast-paced legal environment.
  • Literacy in Google Workspace, and a strong adaptability to learn specialized legal tech and case management software like Clio.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills paired with a positive, professional demeanor.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is highly preferred.
  • An Associate’s degree or completion of a paralegal program is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor deadlines and maintain rigorous attorney calendars, including court dates, hearings, and daily schedules.
  • Conduct regular docket checks to ensure absolute preparation.
  • Gather, track, and update critical client documentation, case inventories, financial information, and the Attorney’s Case Review Sheet.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact by responding to client calls and emails promptly and professionally.
  • Draft weekly docket check and monthly status letters.
  • Organize and maintain electronic and physical client files.
  • Partner with the legal team to curate client binders and ensure seamless trial preparation.
  • Attend daily morning meetings and weekly team reviews.
  • Track billable hours accurately to maintain a minimum of 1,500 billable hours per calendar year.
