About The Position

The firm is seeking a proactive, personable and detail-oriented legal assistant to fill an open vacancy in our Corporate Commercial department. This role will support a team of Corporate Commercial Lawyers within a busy and growing practice. This opportunity is well suited to someone who enjoys working closely with a group of lawyers and being a reliable and trusted member of the team. The successful candidate is organized, responsive and comfortable taking initiative, with the ability to anticipate needs and help move tasks forward. Requirements

  • Minimum three years’ legal experience within Corporate law
  • Successful completion of a related post-secondary Legal Assistant and/or Law Clerk program
  • Handle time pressure and stress of multiple demands
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with confidence interacting with clients

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with iManage, DocuSign, and MinuteBox would be an asset

Responsibilities

  • Independently manage and organize the daily operations of a team of busy Corporate Commercial Lawyers
  • Handle all administrative details with respect to accounting, expenses, opening and closing files, docketing, billing, etc.
  • Assist with travel arrangements
  • Assist with conflict checks and onboarding of clients
  • Assist with preparing, revising, styling, formatting, cleaning, editing and finalizing correspondence and corporate documentation
  • Compile Record Books
  • Keep an up to date and organized filing system
  • Proofreading and checking all documents to ensure accuracy and consistency
  • Communicate with clients and third parties in a professional and approachable manner
  • Diarize and track deadlines
  • Produce the highest quality of work
  • Accountable for all work assigned
