We work at the intersection of finance and law, providing counsel and advice that support activities across the firm. We handle litigation and arbitration, perform research and due diligence, aid in financing and legal filings, deal with contracts and intellectual property rights that show our commitment to clients, shareholders, and regulators. Whether you’re an experienced attorney or a quick learner with a strong interest in financial law coupled with critical thinking skills, our dynamic group might be right for you. Goldman Sachs Asset Management (GSAM) is looking for an attorney with asset management experience (e.g. registered investment companies (including mutual funds, ETFs and closed end funds), separately managed accounts and model delivery portfolios distributed through broker-dealers, registered investment advisers and technology platforms, related investment advisory and/or private fund matters). The role will be within the Asset and Wealth (AWM) legal team and will focus on product development and distribution of registered funds, discretionary separately managed accounts and non-discretionary model portfolios which generally invest in securities in the public markets (equity and debt as well as other asset classes such as credit, real estate, infrastructure and impact investing). The attorney will support various portfolio management teams on negotiating investment management agreements with large institutional clients (including corporate and public pension plans). The attorney will also support various strategic initiatives related to the public investing business of GSAM and the Third-Party Wealth business of GSAM. Primary responsibilities also involve identification of legal and reputational risks, managing external counsel and involvement with relevant committees. Experience with ERISA and retirement plans is a plus, but not required. The AWM legal team provides ongoing support with respect to other advisory, regulatory and asset management issues as well. Given the fundamental developments in regulations globally applicable to the firm's businesses and the markets that it operates, a key component of the role will also include contributing to the analysis of, and formulation of strategic responses to, shifting legal and regulatory frameworks. This is an exciting opportunity for an attorney with asset management experience, a desire to help the businesses we support evolve and a curiosity for expanding their area of expertise.
