About The Position

Harris & Harris has over 50 years of experience in customer care and revenue recovery, specializing in the utilities, government, and healthcare markets. We’re looking for friendly, professional, and motivated Legal Administrator to join our Legal team. The Legal Administrator is responsible for timely and accurate processing of consumer disputes while ensuring compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, including the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) regulations and guidelines.

Requirements

  • Minimum High School Diploma or Equivalent Work Experience.
  • Strong computer skills including MS Office (WORD & EXCEL)
  • Proficient 10-key skills are a must
  • Must type at least 60 wpm
  • Ability to adapt to changing circumstances
  • Ability to multi-task and work in fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of existing credit and collection laws preferred

Responsibilities

  • Process and resolve consumer disputes accurately and within established organizational timelines.
  • Review dispute information and supporting documentation to ensure appropriate handling and resolution.
  • Maintain accurate team and individual performance, ensuring performance aligns with established goals and expectations.
  • Identify and escalate potential compliance concerns, errors or issues that may impact the consumer organization.
  • Manage multiple tasks and priorities while maintaining accuracy, productivity and quality in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrate consistent attention to detail and accountability for assigned work.
  • Collaborate with team members and leadership to meet department objectives and performance expectations.
  • Responsible for creating and remitting standardized or ad hoc letters to consumers and authorized third parties, regarding status of dispute resolution.
  • Responsible for performing all duties in a manner compliant with the laws and regulations governing our industry (including but not limited to the FDCPA, FCRA and CFPB).
