About The Position

This position is within the Criminal Division of the District of Nevada, responsible for providing a variety of legal, administrative, and technical support services. The role involves managing discovery, handling evidence, utilizing various software applications for case management and presentations, conducting legal research, preparing legal documents, and providing administrative support for assigned cases. Responsibilities will increase in complexity as the employee gains experience.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
  • Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication (fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing).
  • Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation.
  • Must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable.
  • May be required to complete a one-year probationary period.
  • Must meet all qualification requirements upon the closing date of the announcement.
  • GS-09 Specialized Experience: One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 level, including managing incoming discovery, performing general administrative support duties, providing technical assistance to litigation teams, utilizing office automation tools for trial presentations, and conducting factual legal research.
  • GS-09 Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or two full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a closely related field (e.g., Criminal Justice, Law, Information Technology).
  • GS-09 Combination of Education and Experience: Graduate education in excess of 1 full year combined with relevant experience.

Responsibilities

  • Managing, organizing, reviewing, and summarizing incoming and outgoing discovery in electronic or other formats in compliance with the Federal Rules of Criminal and/or Civil Procedure.
  • Handling a wide variety of evidence and Discovery, organizing, preparing, routing electronic discovery, discovery redactions and webcam redactions.
  • Using various software applications and technologies, such as Discovery, Everlaw, Case View, Adobe, Excel, PowerPoint, etc., to collect, organize, analyze, and present information.
  • Conducting factual research and non-complex research of legislation, statutes, regulations, and court cases.
  • Cite-checking legal briefs and proofreading memoranda and other legal documents.
  • Preparing draft pleadings, stipulations, motions, tables of authorities, tables of contents, and other legal documents.
  • Providing administrative support for assigned cases, including entering information into case management systems, maintaining calendars and logging of assigned active cases, and managing case-related and discovery documents.
