About The Position

The Department of Molecular Genetics seeks a Lecturer 9M to teach MolGen 3011: Arts and Sciences Learning with Plants, MolGen 1103: Plants & Society an Introduction to Plant Biology, and MolGen 5607 Cell Biology. The Lecturer will also teach as assigned by the Center for Life Sciences Education (2 lab sections/semester) in academic year 2026-2027. In addition to teaching, the Lecturer 9M prepares syllabi and course materials for assigned courses, holds office hours, grades assignments and submits grades by deadlines, and communicates regularly with students.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in a field appropriate for the subject matter being taught.

Responsibilities

  • Planning and organizing instruction in ways which maximize student learning
  • Meeting scheduled classes and office hours in accordance with university policy
  • Ensuring curriculum implementation and course preparation in accordance with department standards
  • Preparing homework and exams, evaluating, and returning student work in a timely manner to promote learning
  • Maintaining accurate records of students’ progress and submitting final grade roster in accordance with established university deadlines
  • Maintaining confidentiality of student information in accordance with FERPA
