The Museum Studies Program at Tufts University seeks one or more part-time lecturers to teach one or both of two graduate-level courses in Spring 2027: Exhibition Planning for Art Museums and Museum Management: Leadership, Fundraising, and Administration. Courses typically meet once per week from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Tufts’ Medford campus, although scheduling may be flexible. Museum Management: Leadership, Fundraising, and Administration introduces the core administrative responsibilities of museum staff, including fundraising, budgeting, communications and marketing, event organizing, staff management, human resources and legal issues, planning, and evaluation. Students will develop business and administrative skills essential to modern museum work and learn how effective museum operations support collection stewardship, interpretation, community service, and the museum’s mission. Exhibition Planning for Art Museums provides an in-depth understanding of how art curators conceive, research, organize, and stage exhibitions in museums of varying sizes. Topics include special exhibitions and ongoing installations, traveling exhibitions, single-artist exhibitions and group shows, and working with living artists and artist-curators.
