About The Position
The Department of Biological Sciences at California State University San Marcos seeks a part-time lecturer for Fall 2026 to teach BIOL 354: Principles of Ecology. This course discusses major concepts in population, community, and evolutionary ecology, including population growth and regulation, competition, predation, energetics, adaptations, and diversity.
Requirements
- A master’s degree or equivalent professional experience in Biological Sciences or related fields.
- Ability to work in the State of California.
- Must comply with the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act.
- Must pass employment verification, education verification, reference checks, and criminal record checks.
- Must sign a release form authorizing the release of information by current and/or former employers concerning any substantiated allegations of misconduct if selected for final stages.
Nice To Haves
- A doctorate or equivalent in Biological Sciences, and related fields.
- Experience teaching similar courses in 4-year universities.
- Demonstrated intercultural competence.
- Commitment to serving the campus community in teaching and service.
Responsibilities
- Teach BIOL 354: Principles of Ecology during Fall 2026.
- Conduct classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:15 a.m.
- Engage with students in discussions on population, community, and evolutionary ecology.
