About The Position

This is an applicant pool for Lecturer positions for the Academic Year 2026-2027 within the College of Agriculture, Forestry and Natural Resource Management (CAFNRM) at UH Hilo. These positions are part-time, temporary, non-tenure, and contingent upon course offerings, student enrollment, position clearance, and funding availability. The role requires availability to teach courses during the day, evening, weekend, and/or via distance learning as needed. Commitment to the principles and philosophy of higher education is essential. Possible assignments include evening, weekend, off-campus, and distance learning via the Internet.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Horticulture, Plant Physiology, Plant Pathology, or Agriculture.
  • Experience teaching college students in the subject matter.
  • Must be available to teach courses during the day, evening, weekend, and/or via distance learning, as needed.
  • Satisfy employment eligibility verification requirements of the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986.
  • Pass reference checks of previous employers.
  • Pass criminal history record checks (for certain positions).

Nice To Haves

  • PhD in the appropriate field.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse student population.

Responsibilities

  • Teach assigned courses in the appropriate discipline, including specific courses in Forestry, Horticulture, Plant Physiology, and Plant Pathology.
  • Prepare course schedule, syllabus, and reports related to teaching and student progress.
  • Maintain a minimum of one office hour per week for each course taught.
  • Work under the supervision of the discipline chairperson.
  • Perform other related tasks and/or duties as assigned.
