Lecturer - EDRL 614B: Reading Certificate Field Experience (Fall 2026)
About The Position
The School of Education at California State University San Marcos seeks a part-time lecturer for Fall 2026 to teach EDRL 614B: Reading Certificate Field Experience. This course examines the use of multiple assessment measures within a balanced and comprehensive literacy program and explores the research foundations that support effective literacy assessment and instruction for students from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds. Candidates will administer a range of literacy assessments, analyze and interpret assessment data, develop instructional recommendations, and communicate findings through professional reports designed to support student learning and literacy development.
Requirements
- A master's degree in the area of Literacy or a closely related field.
- Working in the State of California is a condition of employment.
Nice To Haves
- An earned doctorate in Literacy or a related field.
- Demonstrated expertise in literacy assessment, including administration, analysis, and instructional application of formal and informal measures.
- Experience using assessment data to inform differentiated, evidence-based literacy instruction.
- Experience teaching and/or supervising candidates in literacy assessment within teacher preparation programs.
- Knowledge of screening, diagnostic, progress monitoring, and outcome assessments across grade spans.
- Familiarity with culturally and linguistically responsive assessment practices, including assessment of multilingual learners.
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, inclusivity, and/or intercultural competence with diverse groups in relation to teaching.
