About The Position

The University of San Diego (USD) Philosophy Department is seeking applications for two part-time instructors to teach courses in Fall 2026. These positions are part-time, in-person, and instructors will teach two sections of the same course, not exceeding 6 units per semester. The department is pluralistic, covering various historical periods and philosophical methods, with faculty representing diverse approaches and interests. The College of Arts and Sciences, where the department is housed, is committed to the Catholic intellectual tradition, emphasizing free inquiry, ethical conduct, and compassionate service. This position is part of the Non-tenure Track Bargaining Unit and the successful applicant will be a member of this unit, subject to the Collective Bargaining Agreement with SEIU Local 721.

Requirements

  • M.A. in Philosophy
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment background check.
  • Official education transcripts for degree verification purposes.
