About The Position

The Department of Political Science and International Studies at the University of North Texas (UNT) is seeking a Lecturer (Continuing) to teach courses in Political Science and International Studies. This role is crucial for developing the international studies program, with a particular emphasis on national security. The department is a productive academic unit with 31 faculty members dedicated to teaching and research, offering BA, MA, and PhD degrees. The International Studies program offers BA and MA degrees. The department has a history of faculty editing prominent journals and houses several institutes and programs related to peace and international studies. UNT is a diverse campus that welcomes candidates with experience with HSI/MSIs and/or who speak various languages.

Requirements

• Ph.D. (or ABD) in Political Science (or related field).
• Well-grounded in international relations, international security, and conflict management.
• Experience communicating with others to exchange information.

Nice To Haves

• Preference for candidates with expertise in East Asian countries.
• Experience with HSI/MSIs.
• Ability to speak Spanish, Vietnamese, American Sign Language, Chinese (Cantonese, Mandarin and other variations), Arabic, Tagalog, Farsi, French, or/and Yoruba.

Responsibilities

• Teach INST 2100 and advanced courses in political science and international studies.
• Teach courses in international security, national security, and area studies, with a preference for East Asian countries.
• Contribute to developing the international studies program with an emphasis on national security.
• Provide service to the department.
