About The Position

The Department of Biology at Barnard College, Columbia University, seeks a full-time Lecturer starting July 2027 with a specialization in Cell and Molecular Biology. The teaching load for this position is 6 courses per year. Teaching duties will include lecture and laboratory sections of Introduction to Cell and Molecular Biology and upper-level lecture and laboratory courses in microbiology and / or biochemistry. As a full-time reviewed and renewable position, we expect Lecturers to participate fully in the life of the department and college, including advising, mentoring, service, and leadership. Lecturers are reviewed in their third year of full-time service, with the possibility for reappointment and consideration for promotion to Senior Lecturer in the seventh year. Subsequent reviews typically occur on a seven-year cycle.

• A Ph.D. is required.
• Curriculum Vitae (maximum file size: 5 MB)
• Cover letter summarizing interest in, and preparation for, the position.
• Research/Scholarship statement highlighting how the applicant’s research experience will inform their teaching.
• Teaching and mentoring statement describing the upper-level lab and lecture courses the applicant could teach (both existing offerings and new courses).
