About The Position

Chula Vista College of Business Administration at California State University San Marcos seeks a part-time lecturer for Fall 2026 to teach a section of MIS 304: Principles of Management Information Systems. This course provides an introduction to subjects in management information systems, including computer hardware and software, databases, information systems development, and the role of information systems in the organization. The position is part-time and will be held in-person on the Southwestern College Campus in Chula Vista, with class sessions scheduled from 5:30 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Requirements

  • A master's degree in business administration or in a related discipline.
  • Active current industry experience in an MIS-related position.
  • Working in the State of California is a condition of employment.
  • Compliance with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.
  • Successful completion of a background check, including a criminal records check.
  • Disclosure of any final administrative or judicial decision determining that the applicant has committed sexual harassment within the last 7 years (after meeting minimum qualifications and before an offer).

Nice To Haves

  • A doctorate or equivalent.
  • Previous teaching experience at a four-year university and/or community college.
  • Demonstrated intercultural competence.
  • Commitment to serving the campus community related to coaching and service.

Responsibilities

  • Teach MIS 304: Principles of Management Information Systems.
  • Provide instruction on computer hardware and software, databases, information systems development, and the role of information systems in the organization.
  • Fulfill duties as a mandated reporter under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act.
