About The Position

Applications are invited from qualified individuals for a full-time, 3-year term position as a Lecturer with the Large Animal Internal Medicine (LAIM) service in the Department of Large Animal Clinical Sciences at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine (WCVM). This position entails a 75% commitment to the large animal internal medicine service of the Veterinary Medical Centre while providing supervision and instruction to undergraduate students – primarily those in the fourth or final year of the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) program – as well as interns and residents. The successful candidate will also contribute to the department’s teaching responsibilities, including lectures, laboratories, and demonstrations in Years 1 to 3 of the DVM curriculum, and graduate courses. The remaining 25% of the appointment will be available for other academic pursuits, administrative responsibilities, and related activities. The University of Saskatchewan is located in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, and has a reputation for excellence in teaching, research and scholarly activities.

Requirements

  • DVM degree or equivalent.
  • Completion of an approved mixed residency in LAIM.
  • Certification as a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine or eligibility to sit the certifying exams of the ACVIM at the time of appointment.
  • Eligibility to work in Canada.
  • Possession of an appropriate Saskatchewan Veterinary Medical Association license by the start of the appointment.
  • Clinical interest and experience in production (food) animals and horses is essential.
  • Must indicate whether they are Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or are otherwise already authorized to work at this position for the duration of the appointment.

Responsibilities

  • Providing supervision and instruction to undergraduate students (primarily fourth/final year DVM program), interns, and residents.

  • Engaging in academic pursuits, administrative responsibilities, and related activities for 25% of the appointment.
  • Sharing on-call and after-hours duties among service members.
