About The Position

The Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures at the University of Florida is seeking a Lecturer in Japanese language and culture to begin August 16, 2024. This is a full-time, renewable, nine-month, non-tenure accruing position. The successful applicant will contribute to the development and teaching of Japanese language and culture courses, including online offerings. They will also support the undergraduate major by collaborating with colleagues to ensure smooth articulation across language instruction levels and by participating in course design. Additionally, the role involves providing extracurricular support through service activities such as placement testing and weekly language tables. The typical teaching assignment is three courses per semester. The department is committed to fostering an environment that affirms diversity across various dimensions and encourages applications from women and minority groups.

Requirements

M.A. degree or higher in Japanese language or relevant area, including second-language acquisition, linguistics, and Japanese language pedagogy.
Native or near-native proficiency in Japanese and English.
US college/university-level teaching experience.

Responsibilities
