About The Position

The Rusche College of Business and the Schlief School of Accountancy seek to identify an outstanding faculty member in Business Law who demonstrates excellence in teaching, professional engagement, and service. The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery and continued development of the business law curriculum, support student success, and enhance the academic mission of the Rusche College of Business and the Schlief School of Accountancy. Particular consideration will be given to candidates with broad expertise in business law and related legal areas that support undergraduate and graduate business education. The successful candidate will help strengthen the college's reputation through high-quality instruction, meaningful engagement with students, and contributions to curricular and programmatic initiatives. Appointment may be made at the rank of Lecturer I, Lecturer II, or Lecturer III, depending on the candidate's qualifications, experience, and record of achievement.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited institution.
  • Licensed to practice law in a U.S. jurisdiction.
  • Evidence of, or potential for, effective teaching.
  • Master’s degree in the field in which the individual will be teaching is required.
  • Practical experience sufficient to teach at the university level, through teaching or profession, is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Master of Business Administration (MBA).
  • Recent active practice of law.
  • College-level teaching experience.
  • Experience teaching at the university level is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the delivery and continued development of the business law curriculum.
  • Support student success.
  • Enhance the academic mission of the Rusche College of Business and the Schlief School of Accountancy.
  • Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses.
  • Perform an equivalent of thirty teaching load credits (TLC) for the combined fall and spring semesters.
  • May conduct supplemental instructional activities such as independent studies, internships, and advising.
  • Provides services to the university and the profession and engages in research/scholarly/creative activities.
  • May supervise the work of student and/or graduate assistants.
  • May serve on departmental, college, and university committees.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
