About The Position

The Department of History of Art at The Ohio State University seeks a Senior Lecturer to teach two courses for the 2026-2027 academic year. Responsibilities include preparing syllabi and course materials, holding office hours, grading assignments, submitting grades by deadlines, and communicating regularly with students. The role involves planning and organizing instruction to maximize student learning, meeting scheduled classes and office hours, ensuring curriculum implementation, preparing and evaluating student work in a timely manner, and maintaining accurate student progress records in accordance with university policies and FERPA.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree.
  • A doctorate in a field appropriate to the subject matter to be taught, along with evidence of ability to provide high-quality instruction; OR a Master's degree and at least five years of teaching experience with documentation of high quality instruction.

Responsibilities

  • Teach 2 courses for the 2026-2027 academic year.
  • Prepare syllabi and course materials for assigned courses.
  • Hold office hours.
  • Grade assignments.
  • Submit grades by deadlines.
  • Communicate regularly with students.
  • Plan and organize instruction in ways that maximize student learning.
  • Meet scheduled classes and office hours in accordance with university policy.
  • Ensure curriculum implementation and course preparation in accordance with department standards.
  • Prepare homework and exams, evaluating, and returning student work in a timely manner to promote learning.
  • Maintain accurate records of students’ progress and submit the final grade roster in accordance with established university deadlines.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student information in accordance with FERPA.
