About The Position

The Department of Art, Architecture, and Art History at the University of San Diego seeks applications for a part-time instructor in the Art History Program for the Fall 2026 semester. The course, ARTH 372 Exhibition Design, provides hands-on experience in designing art exhibitions. Students will explore the history of art galleries, salons, and museums, examine theoretical, ethical, and legal debates surrounding the collection and exhibition of art, and have the opportunity to design their own art exhibition. This is an in-person modality course.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Art History or in a closely related field.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment background check.
  • Official education transcripts for degree verification purposes.

Nice To Haves

  • PhD in Art History or in a closely related field.
  • Teaching experience at the undergraduate level.

Responsibilities

  • Teach ARTH 372 Exhibition Design course.
  • Provide students with hands-on experience in designing art exhibitions.
  • Immerse students in the history of art galleries, salons, and museums.
  • Examine theoretical, ethical, and legal debates about the roles and responsibilities of those who collect and exhibit art.
  • Guide students in designing their own real or ideal art exhibition.
