Lecturer, History (Modern East Asia with a focus on China)
About The Position
The Bentley University History Department is seeking a full-time, renewable lecturer specializing in Modern East Asia, with a particular emphasis on China. This role is ideal for an accomplished teacher with a strong scholarly background and an active research agenda. The lecturer will teach introductory surveys and upper-level undergraduate courses, contributing to the department's intellectual life. Primary teaching responsibilities include Chinese history from approximately 1650 to the present, with opportunities to teach courses placing China in broader East Asian, transnational, or global contexts, potentially including Japan or Korea. The position also allows for occasional offerings in contemporary world history, the Vietnam War, or other Asian-related topics. Requirements
- Ph.D. in a relevant field of history, or scheduled to complete Ph.D. by September 1, 2027.
- Accomplished and committed teacher.
