About The Position

The Ethnic Studies Program at California State University San Marcos accepts applications on an ongoing basis for its pool of part-time lecturers for the Academic Year 2026/2027. These applicant pools are used to fill short-term temporary Lecturer positions across the campus with the possibility of rehiring. Appointments may range from one day to a whole semester. This applicant pool may be used to fill vacant positions on an as-needed basis throughout the academic year. Applications submitted to this pool are valid only for the current academic year and the pool will close effective May 31st. To be considered for the following academic year, a new application must be submitted by June 15th.

Requirements

  • A master's degree in Ethnic Studies, or an allied/relevant field.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the State of California.
  • Must disclose if a final administrative or judicial decision determined they committed sexual harassment within the last 7 years (this disclosure is made after meeting minimum qualifications and before an offer of employment).
  • Must sign a release form authorizing the release of information by current and/or former employers concerning any substantiated allegations of misconduct (for final stage applicants).
  • Must successfully complete a background check, including a criminal records check.

Nice To Haves

  • A doctorate in Ethnic Studies, or an allied/relevant field.
  • Experience teaching in higher education.
  • Demonstrated intercultural competence.
  • Commitment to serving the campus community related to teaching and service.

Responsibilities

  • Teach part-time lecturer positions in Ethnic Studies.
  • Fulfill teaching and, as applicable, service duties within the campus community.
