About The Position

The Department of Computing Science at the University of Alberta is inviting applications for a full-time Academic Teaching Staff (ATS) member. This is a three-year term appointment, commencing in July 2026 and ending on June 30, 2029. The role is in-person at North Campus, Edmonton. The ATS member may be required to teach courses such as CMPUT 101, CMPUT 174, CMPUT 175, CMPUT 201, CMPUT 204, CMPUT 229, CMPUT 272, CMPUT 274, CMPUT 275, and CMPUT 291. Other courses and duties may be assigned based on changing conditions and candidate qualifications. Requirements

  • Current Academic Teaching Staff will receive first consideration for positions with a term of 8 months or longer.
  • External candidates will be considered after internal candidates.
  • Must be able to teach courses such as CMPUT 101, CMPUT 174, CMPUT 175, CMPUT 201, CMPUT 204, CMPUT 229, CMPUT 272, CMPUT 274, CMPUT 275, and CMPUT 291, or related duties depending on qualifications.

Responsibilities

  • Teach courses within the Department of Computing Science, potentially including CMPUT 101, CMPUT 174, CMPUT 175, CMPUT 201, CMPUT 204, CMPUT 229, CMPUT 272, CMPUT 274, CMPUT 275, and CMPUT 291.
  • Undertake other courses and related duties as conditions change and depending on candidate qualifications.
  • Foster a workplace that prioritizes safety in all its forms—physical, cultural, and psychological.
  • Promote a safe environment, adhere to all safety laws, policies and procedures, and complete required safety training.
  • Identify hazards and implement controls, and report incidents.
  • Contribute to a culture of belonging and respect, ensuring colleagues feel valued and safe to express thoughts, perspectives, and concerns.
