About The Position
The Undergraduate Program in Neuroscience at Boston University invites applications for a full-time Lecturer beginning September 1, 2027. This is a teaching track line with possibility for renewal and promotion based on performance. We seek a colleague with a commitment to undergraduate education and a track record of excellence in teaching who has research expertise in any area of Drosophila neurobiology. Teaching responsibilities each academic year will include (1) teaching three lecture-based courses in the candidate’s area of expertise, and (2) teaching two laboratory sections and serving as Laboratory Director for the fall semester course NE 203 Principles of Neuroscience, where students employ transgenic approaches to investigate the neurobiology of Drosophila behavior. As NE 203 Laboratory Director, our new colleague will have the opportunity to build on our well-established NE 203 lab curriculum to incorporate techniques and research questions from their own area of expertise. The successful candidate will have a PhD in neuroscience, biology, or a related field and experience with evidence-based teaching practices and incorporating research into teaching. The starting salary for this position is $72,000. The position will involve active engagement in the academic life of the Undergraduate Program in Neuroscience, such as serving as an academic mentor to a cohort of undergraduate neuroscience majors, coordinating student peer-mentoring programs, developing curricular materials, serving as a research mentor for undergraduates, participating in undergraduate Honors, Master’s, or PhD committees, and contributing to the development of academic initiatives. Requirements
- PhD in neuroscience, biology, or a related field.
- Experience with evidence-based teaching practices.
- Experience incorporating research into teaching.
